Seeing the Unseen

Pen on paper, series of three, 59.4 x 42 cm

‘Seeing the Unseen’ depicts everyday objects, which when viewed under an electron microscope, reveal details which the naked eye is incapable of seeing. The process involved taking a series of snapshots with the electron microscope which were then simplified digitally and used as a reference point. This was then translated to line drawings using a more traditional media - pen on paper to make the final work. The intent behind using pen on paper rather than keeping the work digitally was to be able to observe and analyse the digital reference point, then recreate what I had seen enabling me to ‘see the unseen’ from memory.
