SEDIA PER DUE

Connected with tension

‘ Sedia per due ’ ( ‘ Chair for two ’ ) is a performance piece, featuring two girls, that uses a wooden chair as its analogue interactive tool. The chair acts as a playground for the two, inviting them to work together to sit in balance on it while simultaneously creating a physical and emotional bond. By having to intertwine their arms to hold each other and not to fall down the very unstable chair, the two girls engage in an exchange of trust and communication, they are forced to join powers. The activity itself also invites them to be playful around the chair, a sort of ‘tug of war’ where one wins if the other woman also wins.
The performance aims to create an imagery of sisterhood, of females helping each other out and being there for each other, sharing experiences that are universal — regardless whether these are ‘good’ or ‘bad’ ones. It aims to portray females as both fragile and vulnerable but at the same time strong, especially when together.
