‘Paintings’

‘Paintings’ were executed during a period of frenetic activity in summer 2015. Being his first solo exhibition locally, Buttigieg invited viewers into his personal world. It is a world full of desire for life and love, but also one of conflict, doubt and introspection. In different ways these paintings testify to the artist’s growing maturity, where youthful exuberance is tempered with perspicacious observation, a sensitive, if unformed, philosophy of life, and a lurking existential unease (Fenech, 2016). ‘Paintings’ was curated by Mr. Michael Fenech.
