What a contrast! As we turn the corner to embrace the new 20s, looking back at a previous era of jazz, parties and celebration, we dream about getting together, long for moments of community and we miss each other. Artz ID is launching its first official open call to attempt to redefine the current status quo of isolation and distancing, and look to the 1920’s as a source of uplifting inspiration. For this online exhibition, ARTZ ID is looking for artworks celebrating notions of community, human interaction and the act of living. The 1920’s, also known as the ‘roaring twenties’, was a decade marked by stark contrasts – the Great War had just ended, peace had returned, and with it prosperity – although another war would break out not too far ahead.
Fast forward to now, we are facing uncertain times and we are also unable to plan for the future, not knowing exactly what it holds. Yet we make the most out of the present moment. Therefore, we look to artists to use their qualities to transport us to ideal places and give us a visual yet virtual escape. We wish for you to use your current or immediate observations, and think about what the future could look like. Superimpose your friends and family into your currently unoccupied living room, bring a city to your kitchen or anything else that breaks your current confinement. We want to dream with you.
This is an #InternationalOpencall for artist submissions to ARTZ ID’s first virtual exhibition. It will be a showcase of 10 artists celebrating the promises and dreams of the new now through art. This call for submissions offers a unique opportunity to artists, photographers, digital artists, illustrators and more to have their work exhibited in a state of the art 30-day online exhibition provided by Emperia.co.uk . In addition to this, works will be made available to purchase online from Christine X Gallery’s online shop. *
