Nicole Sciberras Debono to take over the studio at KBIC in collaboration with Artz ID

In March, the Kordin Incubation Business Centre (KBIC) announced a collaboration with ARTZ ID, aimed at integrating and empowering the local visual arts community within the centre through a series of initiatives and programs. This collaboration seeks to foster the growth of the visual arts community within KBIC.
One of the incentives includes the allocation of studio space at KBIC, coupled with a mentoring program designed for emerging artists. The initiative also addresses the challenges creatives face in gaining access to affordable studio space. Selected through an open call, which attracted numerous artist applications, Nicole Sciberras Debono has been selected by the jury and is the first creative to benefit from this initiative and to join the program.

Nicole Sciberras Debono is a visual artist exploring the nuances of the contemporary human condition through her work. Her art navigates the intersections of digital and tangible realities, employing figurative narratives that reflect modern experiences influenced by virtual personas. Utilising mediums such as painting, drawing, and digital media on diverse surfaces like linoleum, wood, and cotton, Nicole’s compositions transcend mere depiction.
A recent project involved merging sound and digital visuals into a sculptural installation, blurring the lines between artistic disciplines and emphasising the juxtaposition between digital and physical realms. This piece is part of her ongoing exploration into how modern and historical narratives interplay, capturing the symbolic convergence of our evolving realities. As Nicole anticipates her participation in the KBIC x ARTZ ID collaboration, she looks forward to refining her techniques and focusing on her thematic explorations. This collaboration offers mentorship and workshops that align with her current needs, providing a unique opportunity to both contribute to and learn from a community of artists and educators. In this environment, Nicole aims to weave complex narratives that reflect the dualities of our era and address profound artistic questions.
The incentive will last 6 months through which the artist will make use of the Space and facilities as well as the mentoring and promotional package offered by Artz ID.
