About me
Short Bio | Nico Conti was born in 1992 in Malta. After completing his Bachelors in Fine Arts in Malta, he moved to London to study for a MA at the Royal College of Art in Ceramics & Glass. During his time at the RCA Conti was selected to present his 3D printed work to HRH, the Prince of Wales. Ever since moving abroad, Conti’s work started to become influenced by the heritage of the country he grew up in. By embracing the tradition that surrounded his upbringing, Conti’s work is autobiographical at its core, pairing humble materials like clay with the latest technologies in 3D printing. With the ever so fast advancements in technology, art and craft are affected by modern tools and machinery. Conti looks at clay and seeks new ways of taking it to unexplored territory. Conflicting themes are recurring in his work, binding together; traditional and contemporary, stability and weakness, order, and chaos. Each side has a little of the other; there are no clear solid boundaries and that overlap is where most of the inspiration is drawn from. |
