hot-line by Noura Abdelhafidh
July 22 - August 13
Join us on Friday, 22nd of July for the opening evening of “hot-line” by Noura Abdelhafidh, a collection of one-line drawings illustrating memories of the ordinary scenes related to the sea in the summer season.
Being a postcards-making lover, Noura started this series with a couple of light summery postcards, a spontaneously-built storyline that became stronger and more obvious with every new drawing. The question that came with every finished piece was “What else do I remember from my childhood days at the beach?”.
“hot-line” is a tentative attempt to illustrate the lightness of those moments, opting for a limited palette of pastel colours and focusing on one simple scene with a trippy or realistic feel depending on the random path the single-line chooses to follow.
About the Artist:
Noura Abdelhafidh (b. 1991) was born and raised in Tunis and has been based in Malta since 2017. Graduating in Architecture in 2016, at the Ecole Nationale d’Architecture et d’Urbanisme, Tunis (Tunisia).
Noura is a multidisciplinary designer with a particular interest in interiors and exhibition design and an independent illustrator.
In her drawings, Noura tends to simplify actual sceneries or abstract ideas through a rational
inventory of structural lines and segment marks that strike her at the moment of drawing which
she qualifies to be “an opportunity to be childish and inaccurate”.
