This new collection of paintings is intended to capture the intimacy of solitude and silence. The scenes create a dreamlike atmosphere, allowing the viewer to escape into a trance of peace, delving into nature where one feels most comfortable. The blank spaces are an interpretation of a transition of the state of mind when an individual pauses to ponder nostalgically on memories. For this collection, it all started when Alfie decided to challenge himself. As he was painting figures, Alfie started combining natural elements in some of the body parts and also started introducing a novelty in his paintings by removing partial parts from the portraits. However, it was only in this latest collection that he took the plunge and really went way out of his comfort zone. The artist wanted to go beyond his abilities, and this challenge helped him grow. He instantly felt his artworks had more interesting stories and nostalgia feel. The whiteness of the paper is untouched as the artist gives the negative spaces his full attention and focus, which combined with the figure improves his composition and storytelling. The inspiration of all of this came through his observations of how the human behaviour changed in the past decade and how dependent we have become on technology; we are willing to trade in the beauty and supremacy of nature that surrounds us for these virtual gadgets. It was this thought that inspired the artist to incorporate nature in his art, as a representation of the past, when we used to care so much more about what's happening around us and simplicity.
