“I came to see the damage done” documents the culminated efforts of artists Tom, Malak, Quinn and Ethan; exploring the effects of their current checkpoint in their journey of Malta.
Malak addresses harmful Social constructs, Quinn embodies his figures to convey their scars, Tom cathartically depicts the delicateness of her aggressive and paranoid state, and Ethan crafts landscapes of broken men and women connected to the original fall.
The essence of this exhibition is encapsulated in Adrienne Rich's poem, 'Diving into the Wreck,' an anthem to exploring the past through the lens of a personal present.
The artist’s temporary Maltese home shaped their perspective through the lens of a transforming island. This offered them the gift of defining boundaries and compelled them to reflect on their broader place in the world.
This exhibition charts a path, giving context to the artists while serving as map, evidence, and treasure allowing viewers to see their raw individualistic insight and depth.
