Interdisciplinary Learning through Visual Art and Music (ILVAM)

This one year project originated from a constant need to nourish my pedagogic approaches to art that in turn enrich my professional development on an international level. With the collaboration of my friend and colleague Andre Paul Huber, I devised a tailor-made, interdisciplinary two week long workshop that took place in the Colegio Pureza de María Grao in Valencia; a workshop that celebrated visual arts and music practices through a synergetic teaching and learning experience. A group of 21 Valencian 12 year old students participated enthusiastically in cross-curricular and applied learning experiences where image, sound and text allowed them to enrich their communicative, critical and creative skills, whilst collaborating within a group. This was an ideal opportunity to learn how to manage an overseas project that involved international collaboration with foreign partners, budgeting, space and resource planning and dissemination of project results.
