Actaeon the Hunted Hunter

Size: 80cmx 133cm

Medium: oil on canvas

Year: 2020

Edition: one of a kind

This painting inspired the title of the exhibition. Actaeon the Hunted hunter. To me, Actaeon represents humanity interfering with nature, that is Artemis or Diana. It is a work that shows a scared individual moments before his final transformation and before he is killed by his own hounds. The hunter becomes hunted himself. Even the hounds represent the dominance of nature over humanity. We are social animals and thus our relationship with nature must be improved in order to have a more serene existence.
